2010 - 2011 Season

For next year we should have nearly 2,000 young players across 10 age groups playing in the ERSDA set up. A lot to look forward to for next season. We start 4 and 7 a sides from 7th August and 11s season start is to be confirmed but should be around the weekend of 21st/22nd August.

The SFA Coach Education Courses give coaches the opportunity to develop and to improve their knowledge and understanding of our National Game.

On the 21st of August 2005 Brian Hamilton and John Gervaise from the SFA and East Renfrewshire Council, held a Coaches Education day specifically for ERSDA and its members. This day was a huge success, although it is hoped that every club involved with ERSDA would be able to send along a coach for each of their teams in the future. Some photograghs of the occassion were taken and are shown below.

The courses are split into 4 categories:-
  • Children
  • Youth
  • Adult and
  • Goalkeeping

Coaches must follow the progressive pathway from Level One to Level Two, Level Three and onto Level Four.

All applicants will receive a video, booklet and certificate of attendance. The SFA/East Renfrewshire run a comprehensive Coach Education Programme in this area.

This is a 12-hour non-residential course designed to assist coaches with the planning, preparation, organisation and evaluation of their coaching sessions. It focuses on coaching style and the use of differentiation i.e. provision of practices to suit the wide range of abilities with the primary school age group.

Level 3 Children
In both Children's and Youth Awards Structures, the 12-hour non-residential Coaching in the Game Certificate Course looks at the knowledge and understanding required to help young players appreciate concepts such as width, depth and support within the small sided game. The course is largely practical in nature and prospective coaches are required to demonstrate the ability to coach basic strategy to young players.
