2003s Woodfarm

A further 9 teams were wishing to take part at this age group and venue. At present we do not have the capacity to accommodate these numbers at this venue. We will continue to explore all possibilities with ERC to find a single venue to accommodate this age group.

ERSDA Coaches In Service Day

The proposed ERSDA small sided games in service day has been cancelled due to insufficient interest  from our coaches. The decision to cancel due to lack of numbers booking their place in advance. As we had guest coaches travelling to deliver their coaching sessions we could not guarantee enough coaches to make the sessions viable

Parking Problems

Could all coaches and parents take extra care with their parking to ensure that playing facilties are not withdrawn by the council for irresponsible parking at venues.

  •  Cowan Park : Please DO NOT USE the red ash playing field overlooking the pitches as this is school playing fields.

  • Muirend:  Please use the car park at GHA rugby club there is a gate to the playing fields at the pavilion end of the car park

  • Woodfarm: Please use OLM School car park which has a connecting path to the pavilion. The car park opposite the gages  and approach road should be kept clear

DEVELOPMENTAL FOURS

The Scottish FA launched the Developmental Fours programme in 2007 and through the hard work of their Regional Managers and Football Development Officers and Associations like ERSDA there are now many young people playing this format.
The concept of 4-aside football was introduced in Holland and the Scottish FA wanted to develop the idea further and produced the Developmental Fours resource and programme.

It was very pleasing that the independent study by Grant Findlay at Stirling University confirmed that the Scottish FA Developmental Fours is an excellent teaching tool and provides young children with the opportunity to be creative in an excellent learning environment.  The work Grant has done will provide evidence for the Scottish FA and others to further develop the game and young players.

POSITIVE COACHING WORKSHOP 20th OCTOBER

Over 70 coaches came along to our PCS workshop and AGM, so a big thank you to all who attended. This means that almost 200 coaches have now attended a PCS workshop and we hope the message is now starting to spread. The number of discipline issues we are dealing with is very concerning and we need everyone to conduct themselves in accordance with what PCS and ERSDA is trying to achieve. We don’t need constant shouting and commentaries from the sidelines putting the players off!

If incidents do occur we need you to deal with them calmly and in a positive manner – there is no need for coaches and parents to be shouting at each other over a game of football involving children and setting a poor example for the young players to follow.

Thanks for your help in achieving what we need on a Saturday – a positive and enjoyable experience for all involved.

REMINDERS TO 4 & 7 A SIDE COACHES

·         Putting up goals is the responsibility of both teams who play the first fixture (put up one goal each) and the two teams who play the last fixture on each pitch should take them down and put them away. Please take care with equipment box contents as ERSDA gets charged if we lose anything from these. There have been reported problems with this established practice.

·         Please remember to take all of your rubbish, including empty plastic bottles away with you.

·         1999s at Muirend – please remember it is easier for you to use the GHA car park – there is a gate from this area that is just as close as the actual venue car park. There are still cars parking on pavements outside on Hazelden Park and the GHA car park is practically empty. To access the GHA car park simply drive around to Langside Drive/Braidholm Road at Greens Fitness Centre then drive around to the left of the rugby pitches and down towards our pitches.

·         1999s at Muirend – a reminder that we are following soccer sevens rules for players aged 10, so rules are size 3 ball, kick ins apply and keeper can pick up pass backs.
